16.1 Alemdar Karamanov (Алемда́р Карама́нов) was born in the city of Simferopol in 1934.

He was comparable to Messiaen in attempting to express Christian mystical beliefs through music. He gave us at least twenty-four symphonies.

His twentieth symphony appeared in 1978, and bears the name "Blazhenni Mertvii". I don't know what that means in English.
