8.1 Boris Tchaikovsky (or Chaykovsky, or Бори́с Чайко́вский) was born in Moscow in 1925.

He composed six string quartets, and in 1973 gave us this Theme with Eight Variations for orchestra.

It begins very softly, but becomes louder later.
