I was leafing through the full list of honours (as a retired civil servant I always like to look out for former colleagues who have received gongs) and I noticed a couple of awards which our dumbed-down news media had opted not to celebrate, viz: Stephen Hough has been elevated from a CBE to a knighthood, and Chi-chi Nwanoku, the founder of Chineke! Foundation has been raised from OBE to CBE 'For services to Music and to Diversity.' Both are very richly deserved, in my view.

Also "honoured" should be Martyn Brabbins, John Wilson, Martin Yates, John Andrews and any other bugger who cares about our national musical culture...
::)
... hmmm, some hope!
