Ruth Gipps Horn Concerto is being broadcast on Radio 3 tomorrow (Wed 20th) evening,in a recorded concert. Ben Goldscheider (horn) BBCSO/ Sakari Oramo

Of course, members will have this on a Lyrita cd. But,not so long ago, none of Ruth Gipps' music was being recorded or played. The Chandos cd was a bit of a revelation for me. I wish they would bring out another volume. Have Chandos read the reviews? Most of them were favourable! Indeed, most of the ones I read were enthusiastic. Only,David Hurwitz had something negative,to say! (He would!) Of course,Bruckner will sell more copies! You've got to hope they're just keeping us in suspense until they suddenly, bring out the good!! As to Radio 3. I'm glad the Horn Concerto is being played;but it would be nice to hear Rumon Gamba (or another conductor) give us a new performance of her Fifth Symphony!
