For a nominal fee. AMF = Albion's Monetary Fund, though in this case it generally gets squandered on fripperies rather than bailing out incompetent and corrupt economies. I'd avoid the Darjeeling if I were you.

Yes, and Parker is far worthier of commemoration than that lout Fitzenhagen, whose butchered version of Tchaikovsky's Rococo Variations still seems be preferred by the vast majority of cellists over the composer's own. What can they be they thinking about?  Angry

Parker is far worthier of commemoration than that lout Fitzenhagen, whose butchered version of Tchaikovsky's Rococo Variations still seems be preferred by the vast majority of cellists over the composer's own. What can they be they thinking about?  Angry

Hora novissima, Op.30 (1893) is an outstanding choral work which should be regularly performed: a new recording would be very welcome. I'd love to hear more of Parker's music, especially The Legend of St Christopher, Op.43 (1898)...

Agreed. Personally, I have a high regard for The Boston Six. The works of Arthur Foote, George Chadwick, Amy Beach and, of course, Edward MacDowell have done reasonably well in terms of good recordings in recent times but Parker and John Knowles Paine seem to have been left unfairly in the shadows somewhat. As for performances, however, I suspect that they are all under-represented on concert programmes, with the possible exception of Amy Beach's chamber music lately and MacDowell's second piano concerto. And To A Wild Rose of course!

I have a high regard for The Boston Six. The works of Arthur Foote, George Chadwick, Amy Beach and, of course, Edward MacDowell have done reasonably well in terms of good recordings in recent times but Parker and John Knowles Paine seem to have been left unfairly in the shadows somewhat.

Chadwick is wonderful, and we are lucky to have several excellent recordings of his orchestral music (Serebrier and Jarvi spring to mind). MacDowell seems to have dropped off the radar of late...
