I have noticed that Albion seems to be the main moderator of this forum??     seems like he is driving most of the activity.

Maris (Latvian) is co-moderator. He is very busy with other matters at the moment but hopes to become more involved again as time permits.

 :)

In the meantime, I'm afraid you're stuck with guess who? I've heard he's a real tyrant and swiftly stamps upon any hint of levity.

 ::)

Plus, he works with a dodgy old second-hand laptop that may conk out at any given moment.

Obviously... Sibelius is one of my favorite composers...  he has been at the top of the list for a while.

Many thanks, and please keep involved here at AMF. Your contributions are highly valued and much appreciated!

The avatar gives the game away!

 ;)

A great composer. My avatar portrays one of somewhat more modest ambition and achievement...

...in fact, somewhat like me!

Great stuff! Just listen beyond the actual recording quality and I hope that you'll find a real character in the music. Please let us know your verdict! And remember that the Indian Rhapsody is "Native American" in inspiration, NOT Asian.

No, as you know I am no longer bothering with this totally sorry shambles. I took it over from Maris and Colin simply in order to keep it going and did so for well over a year before being unceremoniously banned and moving on to pastures new. Humour and tolerance are requisite in a moderator, neither of which seems to apply presently on this platform.

As innumerable posts on linguistics clearly garner not the slightest interest from members I would seriously advocate the deletion of the entire board. If members wish to receive yet another bum-clenchingly-boring lecture I'm quite sure that they will PM the moderator, prior to throwing themselves off the nearest tower-block. As to "Daily Triplets", I'm sure that the local fertility clinic is doing a roaring trade.

Christopher makes some good points about copyright and I trust that these will be duly followed up. Members know that I have always encouraged posts linking to non-commercially-available material to be accessed only "for personal study in the spirit of fair use".

Members who I have known for years are appalled at the turn that things have taken and are actively considering handing in their very public resignations from this forum, what a ridiculous state of affairs to have brought about, eh? Delete and ban all you like, as far as I and many members are concerned it is the last refuge of a coward.

Yours most politely, Albion

Thanks, Chris. One realises when one is "pissing in the wind" in terms of forum moderation. I gave up on UC similarly because it is run by egomaniacs (one in particular). I simply fail to comprehend the mentality: a forum isn't a pet to be tamed and moulded in the image of the one who pulls the strings, it is a place for friends to discuss what interests them both publicly and privately.

The current style is antithetical to my approach, but if members wish to persevere...
