Sorry, Jolly Roger, I can't say I was impressed with this. The short-breathed patterns and four-square phrasing were uninvolving. It reminded me of film music, especially the first movement which sounded like Bernard Herrmann but on a bad day. Film music is fine, of course, but it does not a symphony make. I concede that the repetitive cells worked better in finale as a sort of moto perpetuo (by the way, I think the tempo directions of the second and third movements are reversed). All this is only my opinion, of course. Others may think quite differently! ;D
