Does anybody have anything of the orchestral music of the English composer Howard Blake they can download?  The 'Leeds' Violin Concerto, perhaps, or the Piano Concerto?  Did he write any symphonies or other large-scale orchestral works?  Any overtures or shorter works would also be appreciated.

Hi JimL

Howard Blake wrote a couple of symphonies.  In 1990 a Symphony in one movement 'Impressions of a City' and a 'THE SNOWMAN SYMPHONY' op.595 (January 2010). On the Cyprès label came a Symphony in d. Not sure if that is the same 1990 symphony.

I have the Cello Concrto and (on lp) In Praise of Krishna [for soprano and orchestra). I didn't look yet if they're allowed for an upload here.

More inof to be found:

Excerpts from many of Howard Blake's compositions can be heard here:

I have a performance of Movement for Orchestra (Symphony in One Movement) which I will upload soon. I have enjoyed his Piano Concerto for many years. It is tuneful (1st Movement); melancholy (2nd Movement); and uplifting (3rd Movement).

Thank you for the upload.  In what format do you have the PC?

If the ASV CD isn't a re-release of the LP it should be fine for upload.  I'm officially making a wish.

I have the Howard Blake Piano Concerto on CD. It was issued on his own record label HB-3. I bought 10 copies of it about 10 years ago and gave them to my best friends because the work was so beautiful it nearly brought me to tears. I have one sealed copy left. The contents are: Piano Concerto; Diversions for Cello and Orchestra; and Toccata (A Celebration of the Orchestra).
