Toby, I cannot find much information about him, but I have found out that he lived from 1922 to 1977 and that composed a ballet titled Cesmebasi (At the Fountain). Also, a few of his orchestral works are on YouTube: Esintiler Prelude, Capriccio a la Turque, Inspirations, Anatolian Candle Dance, Conversation, and the Cesmebasi Suite; all except the first are on zoptrikeman's YouTube channel. Hi Toby,
A little to add on Tüzün:
In 1976 Hungaroton released an lp (SLPX 31455) with works by Turkish composers. The Budapest Philharmonic was conducted for the occasion by Hikmet imşek.
From Ferit Tüzün on this disk: Esintiler (Inspirations).
He studied in Ankara (Piano Division of the Conservatory there under Ulvi Erkin.
Graduating as top of his class. From 1952 until 1959 he studied in Munich with Lehmann and Lessing.
After coming home he was appointed the conductor of the State Opera and Ballet Orchestra.
His Ballet 'Cayda Cira was first performed in Ankara, with as conductor: one of his German teachers, G.E. Lessing.
Among his other works are:the ballet suite The Fountain Head;a Symphony and the opera Midas' Ears.
