Before you get too excited! I think it is possible that the Dobias goes on a little too long, for it's material! But then again?!! :-\ However! It is intriguing,it is a blockbuster, and it does make you wonder what else is out there?! The musical saw in the Burghauser,is very spooky. Modernistic, but approachable, imho! I thought it was a woman's voice,at first! I seem to recall, the sound of the Dobias is good, but,a bit,on the reverberant side!! I think it's a cd worth acquiring,if you're looking for something, really off the beaten track, though? I think I'll put it on,again?!!
I love the Pizzetti! It makes me think of Rota & Fellini films! I should warn you! Gramophone, spectacularly, rubbished it,though,to my consternation!! (A different recording, though!) I beg to,disagree!! I love the way he brings the big tune back in the finale. The whole work makes me think of sweeping (Italian) romantic, vistas. A little bombast in the central movement, perhaps? The compensation, another lovely melody. But yes,I play it,quite allot! The Naxos reissue has very boring artwork! I've got the original Marco Polo cd. Better artwork! I feel it aids listening enjoyment, for some wierd, reason!
Oh no,not the baliffs! :( And I'll have to 'pay' them with my cd collection!! ::) :( ;D

Glad you like it, and thanks to Holger for supplying the movement titles, which I forgot.
The Old Man and the Sea is available somewhere on YouTube, but I can't find it at the moment.
it is here:

If you could find time to upload the other Foerster symphonies, Maris, I should be most grateful. I've tracked down the CDRs with these recordings and will upload them soon.
