I have tamed the volume of the world premiere performance of Arnold's enigmatic 9th Symphony (given by Charles Groves in 1992) and re-uploaded the file. I am unsure about this work, sometimes I find it deeply moving and sometimes I regret that Arnold wrote it as his swansong to symphonism given his previous brilliance in construction and orchestration - but he clearly felt a need to express something of his gratitude to Anthony Day. It has divided opinion and will no doubt continue to do so.

The recording of excerpts from Sullivan's Ivanhoe in the archive (which I had previously not been able to identify) was a centenary revival in Boston:

I have added an excellent performance of Stanford's choral ballad The Revenge, Op.24 (1886) to the archive.
The Cecilian Singers (Hong Kong) and orchestra/ David Francis Urrows (24/4/1998)
This is a valuable supplement to Hickox on Chandos: very good singing and playing indeed.

Thanks to cilgwyn we now have a complete recording of Malcolm Williamson's opera "Our Man in Havana" (1963) performed by Lyric Opera, Melbourne in 2016. The cast is detailed at the end of the broadcast.

Blimey (as Albion might say!) I did something right! :o I'm going to have to get around to listening to the whole opera,now! I don't think I'm going to be in a hurry to watch the production on Youtube,though! Although,I might try a bit?! I'm not to mad on watching operas & I've only ever been to one. A production of Rossini's Cinderella;the highlight of which was one of the cast fainting and being dragged out from behind the curtain. Great stuff! It livened up,what felt like,a very long night! (I was a youngster back then!)
I can see allot of members salivating at the thought of a Delius opera! I'll have to get it off the cassette first,anyway,which involves humping a cassette deck upstairs or the pc downstairs! Sometimes a lack of interest is much appreciated! ;D
Isn't it great that Lyric Opera are performing stuff like that,though. If only ENO would put on a production of The Tigers or the WNO would give us Holbrooke's Bronwen. Now that would be something! :)
