Here is a list of British and Irish works that I have noted are on the Internet archive(archive.org) (Miklos Pogonyi Archive), which I  don’t think are available in any other format (except where marked) at the moment. I could well be wrong. Just because the work is named doesn’t mean it’s available, although I believe most are (because I’ve listened to them!). Apologies if you see one you want, and ultimately it either isn’t there or is otherwise marked ‘unavailable’’private’ or something similar. Finally, there may be many more out there I haven’t noticed yet! However, it may be a useful index to add to the forum’s own archive.

One of the items in the archive is shown as incomplete - Hoddinott's opera The Beach of Falesa - but in fact the missing Third Act is to be found listed elsewhere in the Pogonyi archive on a separate 'tape' or transfer. It is interesting to note that this appears to be a different performance from the recording extracts of which I provided for the AMF archive a decade or more ago. Mine was taken from the BBC radio broadcast, but there had been an HTV television transmission some days earlier (and indeed I had highlighted the excerpts I wished to record from both that telecast and an earlier live performance). I suspect that the new and complete version in the Pogonyi archives was taken from that HTV transmission, both on the grounds of sound, some discrepancies in the sung notes, and what I think sounds like an editing join before Geraint Evans's concluding monologue in the last Act (I was told at the time that there had to be a pause in the television recording at that point on technical grounds - too much smoke emerging from the exploding temple).

I agree that there are some very valuable and unique recordings in the adventurous Miklos Pogonyi archive, and that of Alan Bush's Byron Symphony for example is a vast improvement on the existing recording quite apart from being sung in English rather than German (although the first performance was in the latter language). One wonders how many other private archives are out there with rare and unusual items lurking in their depths?

They can be streamed and recorded. I use a program called Total Recorder which captures Internet streams very nicely, and then I edit them with another program called Audacity. The former can be purchased for a reasonable fee and the latter is free. I've also found it necessary to edit quite a few of the recordings from the Pogonyi collection as many are at a low volume and others have sudden variations in volume.

I got many recordings in this collection from Miklos himself. He was a friend for many years and we exchanged recordings frequently. As a matter of fact, quite a few items in his collection on Internet Archive came from me.

Miklos's collection was just vast for sure. I also had the pleasure to exchange quite some stuff with him in his late years. In fact, Miklos still had a lot more, since all the tapes he had have not even been included by the archive guys.
