Dear all,

I have long admired this beautiful piece, but the only recording I've ever come across is on youtube. I have arranged it for string orchestra and am conducting it next year.

I was wondering (hence the "slightly OT") if anyone had any information about it, or knew of any books or sites that did. It sounds almost neo-baroque, and it had occurred to me that the cyclical theme he uses right from the opening, might actually be, or be based on, a theme by Bach, but I have no idea which one if it is true! I have to write some programme notes in the not too distant future, so any assistance would be much appreciated!

Many thanks,
