Josef Matěj was born in Brušperk (Czechslovakia, now Czech Republic) in 1922. He gave us five symphonies:

sym 1 in D major, opus 12 (1955)
sym 2 (1960)
sym 3 'sinfonia dramatica' (1970)
sym 4 (1974)
sym 5 (1977)

and two string quartets.
