Dezider Kardoš was born in Nadlice (in Austro-Hungary, now in Slovakia) in 1914. He gave us seven symphonies:

Sym. no.1, op.10, 1942
Sym. no.2 'O rodnej zemi' [O Native Land], op.28, 1955
Sym. no.3, op.33, 1961
Sym. no.4 ‘Piccola’, op.34, 1962
Sym. no.5, op.37, 1964
Sym. no.6, op.45, 1974
Sym. no.7 'Balada o sne' [Ballad of a Dream], op.53, Bar, chorus, orch, 1984

as well as five string quartets:

Str Qt no.1, op.3, 1936
Str Qt no.2, op.38, 1966
Str Qt no.3, op.49, 1978
Str Qt no.4, op.54, 1985
Str Qt no.5, op.58, 1991
