Alemdar Sabitovich Karamanov was born in Simferopol (Ukrainian SSR) in 1934. He gave us twenty-five symphonies:

no.4 ‘Mayskaya’, 1956
no.5 ‘Lenin’, 1957
no.6 ‘Sinfonietta’, 1957
no.7 ‘Lunnoye Mose’, 1958–9
no.8 ‘Klassicheskaya’, 1960
no.9 ‘Liberation’, 1962
no.10 ‘Molodost' Mira’, 1963
nos.11–14 ‘Sovershishasya’, 1965–6
nos.15 and 16 ‘Et in amorem vivificantem’, 1974
no.17 ‘America’, 1975
nos.18–23, 1980
no.24 ‘Adzhimushkay’, 1983
no.25, ‘Nebesnyi Iyerusalim’, 1985

as well as three string quartets:

Str Qt no.1, 1953
Str Qt no.2, 1954
Str Qt no.3, 1962
