Ivan Jirko was born in Prague in 1926. He gave us three symphonies:

Sym. no. 1, 1957
Sym. no. 2 'Rok 1945' [The Year 1945], 1962
Sym. no. 3, 1977

also six string quartets:

Str Qt no. 1, 1954
Str Qt no. 2, 1962
Str Qt no. 3, 1966
Str Qt no. 4, 1969
Str Qt no. 5 'à la Viennoise', 1970
Str Qt no. 6, 1974

and a piano quintet (1978)

Here is his third symphony, from 1977. It has three movements:

1. Allegro assai
2. Lento affetuoso
3. Allegro con spirito
