Karel Jirák was born in Prague in 1891. He gave us six symphonies:

Sym. no.1, c, op.10, 1916
Sym. no.2, f, op.25, 1924
Sym. no.3, op.37, 1937
Sym. no.4, op.52, 1945
Sym. no.5, op.60, 1949
Sym. no.6, op.90, c1970

and seven string quartets:

1. op.9, 1915
2. op.31, 1927
3. op.41, 1940
4. op.63, 1949
5. op.67, 1951
6. op.80, 1958
7. op.82, 1960

There is also a Piano Quintet, opus 50, from 1945.
