Karel Horký was born in Štěměchy (Austro-Hungary, now the Czech Republic) in 1909. He gave us four symphonies:

Sym. no.1, 1959
Sym. no.2, 1964
Sym. no.3, 1969
Sym. no.4, 1974

as well as three string quartets:

Str Qt no.1, 1938
Str Qt no.2, 1954
Str Qt no.3, 1955

Here is his third symphony, from 1969. It has three movements:

1.  Allegro ben marcato
2.  Poco allegro
3.  Allegro moderato
