Shirvani Chalayev was born in Khosrekh, in the Russian republic of Daghestan, in 1936. He gave us two symphonies:

Symphony no. 1, 'Gorď i lyudi' [Mountains and People], 1966

Symphony no. 2, 'Sulak svidetel' [Sulak the Witness], 1978

Here is the first symphony. There are three movements:

I. Drama
II. Ghosts
III. Plaint
