Emil Axman was born in Rataje u Kromeríže in 1887. He gave us six symphonies:

‘Tragická’, 1926;
‘Giocosa, slovácká’ [Moravian Slovak], 1927;
‘Jarní’ [Spring], 1928;
‘Heroická’, 1932;
‘Dithyrambická’, 1936;
‘Vlastenecká’ [Patriotic], 1942

He also gave us six string quartets, in the years:

1924, 1925, 1930, 1940, 1943 and 1946

Here is his fifth symphony, the "Dithyrambic", from 1936. It has four movements.
