A Belgian colony in equatorial west Africa, which became independent in 1960. It has a short coastline where the Congo River empties into the Atlantic. Languages: Bantu and French. Capital: Leopoldville (renamed Kinshasa).

Monetary System: 100 Centimes = 1 Franc.
