1235  MEMBERS' CORNER / Members' wish lists & requests / Re: Abu Bakr Khairat anything? on: September 07, 2012, 11:31:43 pm
It's online now, so you can judge for yourselves. For me, this music is not too romantic, and the Egyptian folk idiom is not that present either - I am not sure whether anybody listening to the first bars would get the idea this is an Egyptian piece of music from the second half of the 1950s at all! It overall remains an oddity in my eyes.

Dear Holger thanks!
Really was he Egyptian or German? IMHO it sounds more sturm und drang than Sphinx and Pyramids. However an amusing listening.

I have his Symphony No. 3 and can upload it soon. However, I am afraid this is nothing special indeed, basically sounds like Beethoven.

However i would be grateful.

1240  MEMBERS' CORNER / Members' wish lists & requests / Re: Willem Kersters on: August 30, 2012, 12:25:06 am
Willem Kersters (1929-1998, Belgian composer) has a good article on Dutch Wikipedia, which lists five symphonies, three concertos, smaller orchestral works, and various amounts of wind/brass, chamber, vocal, keyboard, and percussion music. His only commercially recorded work, Three Bagatelles for string orchestra, are on a CD (title and label unknown, with works by Britten, Suk, and Vermuelen) that currently has two decently priced copies on US Amazon. If you wish to find it, simply type "Kersters" in the search box on Amazon (preferably US), and it'll be the only result that comes up. I don't own the CD, though. Also, you can find his Second Symphony on YouTube. I'll try cataloguing Kersters some time in the near future. Hope this helps you, Toby :)!

Thanks!

Do you have any of his symphonies that can be uploaded here?

Does anyone knows date of compositions of these works?
