Cecil William Mercer, who wrote under the pseudonym "Dornford Yates", was born in Walmer in 1885 and educated at Harrow.

His novel "Blind Corner" appeared in 1927. There are nine chapters:

1)   The Well-Digger's Statement

7)   ‘Rose’ Noble Moves
