He never belonged to a stylistic school, and in spite of his favour for Wagner he did not take part in the controversy between the "progressive" and "conservative" musical parties. He gave us two piano quintets: ------ - Piano quintet no. 1 in B flat major, opus 30 (1879) There are four movements: I. Allegro Vivace II. Adagio III. Scherzo (Allegro Con Spirito) IV.
