Guillaume Landré - not to be confused with his father Willem - was born in the Hague in 1905.
He adopted at first the principle of avoiding note repetition, and based many of his subsequent compositions on twelve-note rows (as for instance in his third symphony), without, however, adhering to a strict dodecaphonic technique.
He left us four grand symphonies:
no. 1, 1932 no. 2, 1942 no. 3, 1951 no. 4, 1955
Four string quartets:
no. 1, 1927 no. 2, 1943 no. 3, 1949 no. 4, 1965
and much more.
Of the quartets, only of the fourth is a performance at present available:
I don't know who the performers were.
