1. Allegro moderato
2. Schwermütig, nicht zu langsam – bewegt, leidenschaftlich drängend

Initially I had written "Julius" for J. - as announced by WDR3 - instead of the correct "Jaques",
I've also added the individual movement titels thanks to the authoritative information given by Prof. Pachl.

Erich Wolfgang Korngold (1897-1957)

Der Schneemann (The Snowman), suite from the ballet–pantomime (1908-09)

Hamburger Rundfunkorchester
George Singer, cond.

http://www.mediafire.com/?y7lecgyhb8ofdvw

Radio broadcast, early 1990s.
This is described as a suite. It takes about as long as the selection (1. Act) recorded by Chandos.
I don't have the Chandos CD, so I cannot say if this is the same selection.

I don't think I have seen any mention of Richard Maux, Austrian, so I have downloaded three archival recordings, as you can see by the opus numbers he was very prolific, there are references on the Internet mostly in German, but sounds like he wrote almost a thousand piano pieces, alone! Well, seems so unusual that for all his life work, he isn't known. I very much enjoyed his music, I'm not usually one to hunt for "influences", but thought I heard a Richard Straussian nod or two. Anyway, I hope it is something new for you. The details of the recordings are in the track names. Jim
