Karl Goldmark was born in Keszthely in 1830, one of twenty children.

He never belonged to a stylistic school, and in spite of his favour for Wagner he did not take part in the controversy between the "progressive" and "conservative" musical parties.

He gave us two piano quintets:

------

- Piano quintet no. 1 in B flat major, opus 30 (1879)

There are four movements:

I. Allegro Vivace
II. Adagio
III. Scherzo (Allegro Con Spirito)
IV. Allegro Vivace

It was performed by Oliver Triendl (piano) and the Quatuor Sine Nomine.

------

- Piano quintet no. 2 in C sharp minor, opus 54 (1914)

There are four movements:

I. Sehr Massig - Allegro Non Troppo
II. Adagio
III. Sehr Langsam - Allegro Moderato
IV. Moderato Assai

It was performed by Oliver Triendl (piano) and the Quatuor Sine Nomine.
