Eduard Franck was born in Breslau in 1817. Much loved as a teacher, he was also admired as a pianist with a particularly fine touch. His autobiography was published in 1928.

Here is his piano quintet in D, opus 45, from 1882. There are four movements:

1. Allegro
2. Presto
3. Andante con moto
4. Allegro

It was played by James Tocco on the piano with the Edinger quartet.

I can heartily recommend his two piano concertos, available on cpo - romantic piano concertos that could/should have been in Hyperion’s RPC series.
They can be heard in full on Spotify.
