This Scottish composer has long intrigued me and I recently re-discovered the availability of this Ph.D thesis which may be of interest to somebody else other than the author and myself - http://theses.gla.ac.uk/75110/

Thanks for this.

Here is a link to an earlier thesis on Drysdale:

Me too! I shall investigate this with great interest. I have a score of his Tam o'Shanter Overture, the only music of his that I "know" (I don't know it, really, only vaguely familiar with) but would like to find more. Nothing available on IMSLP, I see...

Aye, yet another prime candidate for the magic baton of John Andrews and the superlative production-values of Dutton, along with Mackenzie and Cowen (such shameless plugging, eh?).

Better switch on that scanner then...

You can be quite brazen when roused, can't you! (Sorry if that sounded like Julian to Sandy.) I'd put both Cowen and Mackenzie ahead of Drysdale, though. Still, all three are worthy!

I think I have a set of parts somewhere for the "Tam O'Shanter" overture. I will try to locate them. In any case, however, Birmingham City University has a set which anyone can borrow from the Encore Music Hire Library here: https://iaml-uk-irl.org/encore-21
It is a wonderful resource. One used to be able to order via Inter-Library loan.
The overture is a terrific piece. It deserves to get performed, and performed often IMHO.
