Although there is only one CD premiere on this album, I thought it looked interesting enough to bring up here :). The CD premiere is Mykola Lysenko's (1842-1912) Overture to the opera "Taras Bulba" (Lysenko is actually Ukranian). Also on this disc are Scriabin's Poem of Ecstasy (pretty well known, I know, but wonderful piece anyways ;D) as well as his less often-heard Reverie, op. 24. Rounding out this CD is Glazunov's Concert Waltz no. 1 and, last but not least, Myaskovsky's Symphony no. 21 in F-sharp minor. The performers are the Beethoven Orchester Bonn conducted by Stefan Blunier. FYI, the actual title of this CD is "Russian Composers Around 1900".

Hi Kyjo - do you know when this is coming out? I can't see it on the MDG website...
I think Lysenko's Taras Bulba has been recorded before, no? By the Soviets/Ukrainians....

Christopher, I found this CD while browsing on Amazon and there it says that the release date will be October 16th here in the US. By the way, MD&G's website is quite infrequently updated (Amazon is a better source for looking up upcoming recordings) :). Oh, and I forgot to mention this is an SACD ;D! And yes, Lysenko's complete opera Taras Bulba has been recorded before, on the 1-2-3-4 GO label :).
