This neglected work by Bliss is being recorded in April by Chandos (soloist Sarah Connolly, conductor Andrew Davis) and Dame Sarah has already been on twitter enthusing most strongly about the work! Maybe they will turn to the Golden Cantata next?

Excellent news!! At last Chandos are using Andrew Davis to record music which Richard Hickox sadly never got round to.

Can you provide a link to this news?

Hickox, so I was told by the late Ralph Couzens, hoped to record some Holbrooke. I wonder if it is too much to hope that Chandos will get round to doing something by Joseph. Probably...

The latest edition of Gramophone mentions it in the forthcoming recordings section, and the other part extolling how good the piece is was from Sarah Connolly's twitter feed

Indeed, dare we hope that Chandon are returning to their former championing of neglected British music? It's hard now to believe that they once recorded things on a scale of Bantock's Omar Khayyam and Sullivan's Ivanhoe.
