Members may have missed this significant release last Autumn - I certainly did - of the highly impressive hour-long "Confitebor tibi domine" set in 1799 by Samuel Wesley (1766-1837) for soloists, chorus and orchestra. There is already an excellent broadcast in the archive but it is pleasing that this work may gain wider circulation through this recording, available from the choir's website:

Excellent! I missed it too, and this is the least known era of British music. Apart from Marsh's symphonies and the odd Dibdin recital I have nothing.

Have received my copy and what a marvelous work! I had no idea it would be so dramatic and uplifting! Well done Portsmouth for this rescue act!
