You make it sound as if there's many Azeri Violin Concerti "out there" and available to be heard.  What are some of the other good ones?

I can find no evidence that the Amirov work is on cd (I could of course be proved wrong)....so that is fine :)

The other piece however poses two problems:

(1) Yes...it is on a Russian Disc cd which means that it would be better removed from your post please Toby.

(2) It appears-according to Mike Herman's discography on Musicweb-that it IS NOT actually Tofik Kuliyev's Violin Concerto but in fact the Violin Concerto by the Turkmenistan composer Ashir Kuliyev.

So...it would not be appropriate in this thread for both reasons :) Thank you in advance Toby for your understanding :)

That's an error by Russian Disc, they confused the various Kulievs here. The Violin Concerto they released is by the Turkmen composer Ashir Kuliev (Aşyr Kulyżew in today's Turkmen alphabet; 1918–2000) as Mike Herman correctly indicates. It has also been released on a Melodiya LP in the 1980s together with Danatar Khydyrov's First Symphony.

First of all, my sincere thanks to Toby for so promptly and with such understanding responded to my request :)

And secondly, many thanks to Holger for his clarification of the actual identity of the composer of the concerto in question.
