I listened to No 1 in this cycle, and it doesn't inspire me to hear any more. Extremely mannered performance, and the sound engineer seems to have hung a mike directly over the timps. More of a "must-not buy".

And why another Sibelius cycle? If conductors haven't nailed the music in any of the cycles we have already then they never will.

Quite! ::) ;D If I'd had a pound for every new cycle,or recording, that is supposed to be the cycle,or, the, recording,to have (or measure others,by?)!

For complete cycles, I'll stick with Vänskä / Lahti, Berglund / Bournemouth and Rozhdestvensky. I don't need another one.

And certainly not this one! I actually have Lorin Maazel conducting the VPO.

A not buy, I've Vanska's incredible good cycle with the Lahti SO and Lintu on Bluray, very good too, and Kamu on BIS. That's all I need.
