As far as I can tell there are at least four performances (one recorded live) of these piece on youtube.  One poster in particular (JCHBONNET) has put up two different performances that he describes as "1st version" and "2nd version", with a difference in timing of approximately four minutes, suggesting that a significant amount of material may have been cut from the "1st version".

Are there any Vladigerov specialists out there who can further comment on this.  Are there in fact two extant versions of this composition?

Yes I know I should be able to determine this for myself by simply putting my ears to work, but for various reasons (limited attention span?) this isn't always a straightforward process for me.   ;D

Many thanks!

Brian

I don't find it straightforward either, trying to determine the difference between two performances.  I don't know if there are two versions of the work, but the commercial recordings are all a bit longer:

JCH Bonnet's 1st version is 30m 45sec
JCH Bonnet's 2nd version is 26m 9sec
The recording conducted by the composer with Emil Kamilarov is 35m 59sec
The recording conducted by the composer's son with Georgi Badev is 30m 54sec (this I think is JCHB's 'First version')
The more recent recording with Svetlin Roussev is 32m 0sec

But what a wonderful romantic work it is.   I wish someone would record the two symphonies.

. . . and then there are the piano concertos.
For some time, Toccata Classics had them listed as 'in the pipeline', but they are no longer mentioned.
Will they ever be issued?

I'm not sufficiently knowledgeable to comment on the discrepancies in the versions of the First Violin Concerto, but for those interested in exploring more of Vladigerov's works, I've posted a link in the Downloads section (split into two posts since the host puts a limit on total characters in any single post) that will take you to a trove of most of the rest of Vladigerov's orchestral works which I uploaded elsewhere a couple of years ago. All are ripped directly from the original Bulgarian LPs.
