To be honest I have always been rather scared of Thea Musgrave''s music, believing it to be too rebarbative for my tastes. I have to say however that hearing "Turbulent Landscapes" recently at a concert at the Edinburgh Festival I was impressed and led to a possible reconsideration.
"Phoenix Rising" on the forthcoming cd can be heard in the Proms performance from this year on You Tube. It is not-by any means-impossible for me to appreciate (although whether I buy the disc or not is as yet undecided).

I was at that Prom perf. of Phoenix Rising. Loch Ness had been premiered at the Proms back in 2012, and I was present at that, too. This CD looks like it'll be a very desirable acquisition indeed!
