HOLY MAGMA is the 3rd concert in the MUSIC OF THE FUTURE series presented by Nelja Energia
Concert is produced by ENSO and Estonian Music Days

The Estonian Music Days (EMD) has been the most important festival focusing on the work of Estonian composers since 1979. The main theme of the 2018 festival is HOLY. The EMD symphony concert has traditionally offered the joy of exploration and presented fascinating new compositions – this time by Age Veeroos and Toivo Tulev. Besides new pieces, the programme includes Erkki-Sven Tüür’s 2002 Symphony No. 4 Magma for percussion and symphony orchestra, with Heigo Rosin as soloist.

Regardless of his young age, Heigo Rosin has given concerts all over Europe and the United States, performing recitals and playing with numerous prestigious orchestras. In 2015, he was the first Estonian musician to be included in the prestigious Orpheum Advancement Programme for young soloists in Switzerland. In the same year, he was selected as leader of the World Percussion Group, followed by a five-week tour in the United States. From 2016, he has been a signature artist of the percussion manufacturer Malletech and of Sabian Cymbals. In 2017, he debuted in New York’s Carnegie Hall.

Risto Joost is a recognised conductor on opera and concert stages. He is the conductor of the Estonian National Opera, principal conductor of the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra from the 2012/13 season, artistic director of the MDR Leipzig Choir from the 2015/16 season, and from spring 2016 also the artistic director of the Tallinn Philharmonic Orchestra and the Birgitta Festival.
