For anyone who may be interested, Kodály's delightful Székely fonó (The Spinning Room - Folk scenes in Hungarian) - comprising various Hungarian folk songs strung together and orchestrated and made into a loose story - is available in a fine modern studio recording released on CD in 2017.

It premiered in its original form in 1924 and then, in 1932, at the Hungarian State Opera where it has been performed almost 300 times.

It was recorded, in part and then complete, on the Hungaroton label in 1958 and 1970 respectively.  The 1970 recording is downloadable from various sources and both recordings can be heard on YouTube.

The 2017 CD release is based on the 2016 production of the Hungarian State Opera and was recorded on 17, 18 and 19 September 2016.

Unfortunately, and here is the catch, I can find no information whatever on the CD by searching the internet.  I purchased a copy a couple of days ago at the shop in the Hungarian State Opera house (currently closed for renovation - but open for tours). OperaTrezor appears to be the record label of the Hungarian State Opera.

Information in English on the production, on which the CD is based, can be found at: https://bachtrack.com/review-kodaly-spinning-room-hungarian-state-opera-budapest-october-2016  and in Hungarian at: http://www.pepitamagazin.com/index.php/kodaly-zoltan-szekely-fono/515

An extract from the production can be heard at:

The cast can be found at: http://www.andrearost.com/hu/naptar/2017-10-12/kodaly-szekely-fono/
