I only read yesterday that David Maslanka died august 6th.
Maestro Maslanka died of cancer. He outlived his wife for only one month.

He was one of the greatest composers for Wind Orchestra, not only of the USA but of the world.
He wrote 9 symphonies, 8 of them for wind orchestra; only the 6th was for orch.

I agree with you.  He is a very fine composer and his music deserves to be better known.  It is very well known in the wind world but some consider that second tier.
