Of course walking out during the interval is to be distinguished from walking out during the concert itself. On one notorious occasion in 1910 Debussy Dukas and Pierné walked out together during a performance of Mahler's Second Symphony. Debussy must have rather enjoyed the feeling because a couple of years later he walked out during the first performance of his own Jeux!
