There doesn't seem to be a thread for this composer yet. God, his birthdate makes me feel old...!

I was wondering whether anyone had an off-air recording of his wonderful The Immortal, or, better yet, had heard tell of a studio recording. I listened to it obsessively on iPlayer last summer, and I miss it!

[For anyone who may have happened across a near-identical post to this on another forum, yes, I’m shamelessly repeating myself in the hope of generating further discussion!]

Have a bit patience: it will be broadcast during the current proms again:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/events/ejrhn3
Otherwise, if you can manage to provide details about the earlier broadcast I can upload this for you.
I would need performers details and the date of broadcast just to spare time. ;)

Thanks for the reminder; however, I messed up recording the premiere and don't trust myself not to again, so I may take you up on your offer! Details on this page...

Many thanks in advance.

Just to clarify, it's just the Simpson that I'm after; I don't need the Barry as well.

I see that I owe you profuse thanks! Now then...if you could also see your way to uploading this James Dillon piece you'd make me a very happy boy indeed...!

I don't have much to offer in exchange besides off-air recordings of the decidedly un-British Gubaidulina's Chaconne for piano and Fanny Mendelssohn's "Easter" Sonata, I'm afraid, and I suspect that either they'll have been uploaded already and/or (given that they too are taken from Radio 3 broadcasts) you'll already possess the means to acquire them...

Oh, and go on then, one last request...a work more notable for what it was trying to do than for what it actually achieved, I feel, but still worth owning, if you wouldn't mind doing the honours...

Well, I didn't mess up recording the Proms performance as such, I simply didn't bother! However, having now listened back to it on iPlayer, I think it would be worth having as well - Mark Strong was a more characterful Frederic Myers in the WP, but Christopher Purves is more polished, and the "busy" writing benefits from the RAH's bigger acoustic, I feel. Would you mind doing the honours (I promise this is the last time I'll be bothering you in the foreseeable future!)...?

The performance starts at 4:00 exactly, and ideally I'd like the recording to run until the end of the section of the interval chat where the piece is discussed in detail (47:29)

Many thanks in advance once again!

I will do so.

I have to make a general remark. Please bear with me. I am not quite well currently and need to take care. Therefore I will probably not make any recordings/uploads in the near future.

Understood. I don't anticipate the need to ask for any more recordings in the near future anyway, and do already make extensive use of Simon's blog, so that's no problem whatsoever. Thank you again for all you've done!
