A few years ago I saw some upcoming releases from Melodiya of various works of Vyacheslav Ovchinnikov ...  now I can't find any information on it....anyone know anything about this?

Sadly this composer passed away a couple of weeks ago. He wrote the wonderful soviet film of 'War and Peace' (Bondarchuk). Fortunately this is one of the few CDs featuring Ovchinnikov's music. His first two symphonies cry out for a CD release.

I have heard a lot of rip-offs of the fairground music from Petrushka, but none so blatant as this!
