some other tidbits:  Artur Lemba

Overture Fantasy No 3
Festive Overture No 2
Symphony No 2 in F minor: "On the way of the life"
Festive Overture No 1

ERSO with Volmer conducting

Alba may release this... don't know for sure.

apparently, this will be released by ERP instead of Alba in summer 2016.

I wrote to ERP to ask about this, and their Artistic Director, Peeter Vähi, kindly wrote back to me saying "Many thanks for your interest in Estonian music and Lemba. Unfortunately, we don't have any plans regarding recording nor releasing Lemba's CD"...

Thanks Christopher for checking that.   That's news to me.  Mr. Vähi would know that its not in the pipeline.

Hello David - I know you're in the region at the moment, and I think you mentioned you would ask the Lemba society for more information about the above recordings?  Have you heard anything?

I'll ask around when I get to Tallinn.  (Tubin Society... not sure there is a Lemba Society).

Hello David - any news from the Tubin Society about the above?

Best regards,

Christopher

Hi David - in another thread (http://artmusic.smfforfree.com/index.php/topic,694.msg28718.html#msg28718 and copy above) you mentioned that you could clarify from the Tubin Society about a possible forthcoming Lemba CD.  Have you heard anything more about it?

Hi Christopher... no I don't have any further information about the forthcoming Lemba CD.  I will inquire when I get to Tallinn.

Hi Dave - what was the upshot of the Tubin Society meeting that you have referred to a few times that you were planning to attend in Tallinn?  Any new interesting recording projects?

Nothing.... no discussion.  The topics were around Eduard Tubin and his re-enternment to Estonia, which actually happened today.
No further information about Lemba.  Sorry.

Really? Where's his grave now?

… music is not only an `entertainment’, nor a mere luxury, but a necessity of the spiritual if not of the physical life, an opening of those magic casements through which we can catch a glimpse of that country where ultimate reality will be found.  RVW, 1948

the location is also known as the Forest Cemetery out on hiway 1 (Tallinn-Narva hiway) towards the Tallinn Botanical Gardens.

Official Notice:
On 5 June, the remains of Eduard Tubin and his wife arrived to Estonia, the composer’s homeland. The remains were buried in the Tallinn Metsakalmistu, where a commemorative ceremony of reburial will take place on 18 June at 1:00 PM.
