One that springs to mind. The Lyrita recording of Bernard van Dieren's Chinese Symphony. I've been waiting for a recording ever since I first read about this composer in an old yellowing Pelican paperback, and a few other places, since. His name seems to crop up now and again........and now here is a cd recording oif his most 'celebrated' (although, maybe that's not the right word) work. Yes,it meanders a bit;but it has an odd atmosphere which really appeals to me. It makes me think more of late Scott than Delius really;but it also has a distinct soundworld of it's own. Whoever those people were who said that it wasn't worth recording were, imo, wrong. I also enjoyed the two shorter pieces, and I hope that the Lyrita cd will encourage more recordings of his music. Nice choice of artwork too!
