Probably worth a try, the pdf. booklet says 'Granddad Laughs, an eccentric opera in two acts. Libretto by Alexander Tchaikovsky after Ivan Krylov’s fables. With children as special audience in mind, the composer writes the opera in a simple musical language using couplet and song forms. At the same time, he freely employs devices of musical drama of the 20th century – a method of collage and cinematographic “fade-in” (when characters of one fable continue to act in the stories that follow), grotesque refraction of music genres and a startling combination of “high” and “low,” a peculiar stage polyphony. Virtuosity of the vocal and symphonic score and characteristic use of different music timbres are combined with convenience of performance and transparency of sound. [Qute ends]

Forgive the ignorance of my question but does he have any connection to the more famous composer who shares his surname?  If not, what fantastic luck for a composer to have such a name.

Dear Relm
My Russian is very scarce.IMHO Alexander is nephew of Boris and  has no connection with Petr (Pyotr).

The Discogs link here to Alexander Tchaikovsky suggests exactly that: nephew of Boris Tchaikovsky.

Violin Concerto (if anyone knows exact date of composition,i'd be grateful)
https://melody.su/catalog/classic/39989/

It's from 1987. By the way, it has already been released on CD with Viktor Tretyakov and the USSR Large RTV Symphony Orchestra conducted by Arnold Kats as part of a 10 CD set featuring Viktor Tretyakov (Brilliant Classics). It must be noted that Brilliant Classics mislabeled the concerto, claiming the composer was Boris Tchaikovsky. However the violin concerto which they released is in fact Alexander Tchaikovsky's First Concerto.

And yes, Alexander is Boris' nephew, while both have no connection to Pyotr.
