As I remarked elsewhere Mr. Stuart's Channel on You Tube now rivals or own British Music Archive as an astounding collection of recordings of British Music (in particular). I thought that it might be useful to produce a catalogue of what he has posted. I cannot possibly list all the Film Music he has uploaded. Some of the film music contains substantial works but there is such an amount of it that I would need to devote days or indeed weeks to listing it all ::)

What I shall catalogue will mean an ongoing exercise involving many hours over many days. It will therefore be ongoing, ie I shall add to it as time allows me to go back through the collection. What follows is therefore only the beginning of what will be a huge list ;D Some of the works are in our Archive in the same performance. Members can check duplications for themselves if they wish to compare sound quality. (Mr. Stuart does not usually provide the dates of these recordings although he does indicate if it is a premiere.)

When I took on this self-appointed task I do not think that I had any real idea of just how much of an incredible collection James Stuart had amassed and just how much music he has actually made available through You Tube.

After 48 hours of virtually non-stop work...I now know ::)

I have called a halt-hopefully temporarily-although the compositions still missing are from composers of whom I have never heard or are not really to my taste......and the number of such compositions is no more than a small fraction of the number I have listed ;D

Not only am I exhausted ;D...but, more importantly, I now realise how many of these works listed I have not actually downloaded. I need to get down to that task now.....and that will take another huge chunk of time.

....so, a pause!

However, I do hope that members interested in British orchestral music no can us this catalogue to reference what Mr. Stuart has-with such incredible generosity of spirit-made available to his fellow music-lovers.

Many thanks for all your work on this. Given the awful UI that has YouTube has, and the immense number of 1-minute snippets of film music posted on that channel, browsing it is very difficult. Your list will make it much easier to find things.

Probably not new info, but this channel on YouTube offers rare recordings also, usually of American music and not nearly as extensive as James Stuart, but certainly fun to browse. And I repeat my opinion that even if the recordings are old and scratchy, there is no other way to hear these pieces, so they are quite acceptable to me. Meanwhile I have absolutely loved hearing all these British pieces that I either had no idea of their existence but have wanted to hear for a long time. Jim
