It is my turn to beg!

One of William Schuman's finest late works is "American Hymn: Orchestral Variations on an Original Melody" (1981). It was first performed in September 1982 by the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra under Leonard Slatkin. They recorded the work for Nonesuch in 1983. I do not think that the LP was ever transferred to cd.

I had the piece in my collection at some point-it is in my catalogue. However the audio file has disappeared. I have searched everywhere without success.

Does anyone have the work.....please!

That is a very generous offer which I do really appreciate but a recording has just been very kindly posted in the US Music Download section by another member-to whom I am extremely grateful :)

What appears to be rather ironic is that I may have posted the original ::) and then lost my own audio file :-[ It was neither in my William Schuman folder on my hard drive or in the backup folder on an external hard drive. Totally mysterious!!  Before anyone asks...I did a search on here but could not find it.

For those who think that Schuman's music is predominantly angry, dissonant, brass-driven- "American Hymn" is worth listening to. It has a still, quiet beauty which is quite remarkable.
