Allow me to start a thread on the Czech Republic-- a place that seems to have more composers per capita than anywhere else, and awfully good beer. Also, I think i provided the wrong link on UC when I posted this

Jan Klusák (b 1934)  - Invence 1 (1st Invention) (1961)
Scored for 17 solo instruments (flute,oboe,English horn,clarinet,bass clarinet,bassoon, contrabassoon,2 horns,trumpet,tenor trombone,bass trombone,string quintet)
The sleeve note reveals: The title is in no way intended to indicate that the work resembles the Invention in Bach's time. It was chosen by the composer because of the freedom it afforded his musical expression.

The three movements are: I. Allego assai; II. Lento; III. Allegro con brio

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?93jcli42wxk440m

From a 1974 lp Panton 11 0394

The suggestion for writing this work came from a friend of Hlobil, František Hertl, to whom the concerto is dedicated. The 1st performance was in Prague, 1969, played by Christina Belčeva, The Prague Symphony Orchestra (FOK), with Jindřich Rohan conducting.

Ivan Řezáč (1924-1977)  -  Torzo Schumannovo Pomníku (1968) (Second version: viola & strings)

Hubert Šímáček, viola
The Prague Chamber Players
Eduard Fsicher, conductor

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?uqbfklmfafqrbbf

The 1st version of 'Torso of a Schumann Statue' was for viola and piano and was written in 1963.
It was commissioned by the viola player Hubert Šímáček and the pianist Zdenĕk Kozina.
The first one suggested that Řezáč should rewrite the work for viola and orchestra.
