Possibly two performances! The first ever on the continent, unless you count the Marco Polo studio recording

Surely it's about time we had the Asian premiere: 60% of the world lives here, and Tokyo has a Tower Records where you can buy all three Gothic CD releases off the shelf and they have a Brian named section on the shelves (ie, not just "Composer B", as you'd likely get in the UK)

I plan to go there, the Sunday performance. Any other plans for Braunschweig?

I am seriously considering it - it's a bit of a trek from Wales but I could probably make the Sunday morning performance without having to get any time off work!

The plans announced struck me at the time I heard of them as somewhat suspicious. Although friends suggested to me that I should make arrangements to travel to Brunswick (I suppose that I should call it Braunschweig.....but since I don't call Munich 'Munchen' ;D). I know that some of them booked tickets for the concerts and made travel arrangements. Somewhat reluctantly I decided not to make plans of my own.
To-apparently-schedule two performances of 'The Gothic' on successive nights struck me as both financially and artistically improbable. The fact that all this was being planned with no reference to the Havergal Brian Society also seemed odd-to put it mildly.
I must say that the whole thing is very un-Germanlike :(

I booked a hotel, ordered for tickets for both me and a friend. But had to cancel all. The whole affaire leaves me with a unique 'Sinfonie Nr. 1 d-moll "The Gothic" von Havergal Brian' ticket as a souvenir. :D

Yes, since when do we have to use the local names of places? I'm not going to start saying "Venezia" nor expecting French people to stop saying "Londres" when they are using their own language. "Brunswick" is also a good deal easer to say in English than "Braunschweig". In Hindi Calcutta is called "Kokota", which is up to the locals, but I don't think they are trying to change the English name.

I'm glad I didn't try to book travel. Would have been difficult, as I was due in Strasbourg a day later. All the same, how annoying.
